RTDNA Canada welcomes the release of Canadian journalist Mohamed Fahmy from prison in Egypt.

Fahmy who recently lost his second trial on terrorism-related charges, was pardoned by Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi.

In welcoming the decision, RTDNA President Ian Koenigsfest called for the release of all journalists imprisoned around the world. “No journalist should be sent to prison for practicing their craft and simply doing their job”. There are believed to be more than 200 journalists imprisoned around the world.
